Meet Hong Bing!
Our journey
Hey there! I’m Hong Bing Tang, a college student at Central Michigan University. My world spins around running, spending time in the outdoors, and making friends. Every step I take is a new chapter in my exciting college life. Join me and let’s explore this journey together!
Ready for fun? Let’s go!
Who Am I?
To begin, I am Hong Bing Tang. I am from the state of Michigan. I am currently in my sophomore year of college at Central Michigan University. I am currently completely my bachelor’s degree in computer engineering. Both my parents have college degree as well although my dad, who is a mechanical engineer, inspired me to pursue a career in STEM and Engineering. My Family consist of my dad, my mom, my older sister and my younger brother.
Things I like to do.
One of the most important aspects of my life is exercise. I am currently on the Central Michigan Cross Country team. And yes, while I love to run for fun, I enjoy almost all forms of activity. This includes, biking, swimming, basketball, and a whole host of other activities. Additionally, I love to travel around and spend time outside. One of my more recent adventures was a backpacking trip to New Zealand. Finally, I enjoy giving back towards the community. Whether that is tutoring people, or help running community and university event through the CMU honors program I enjoy service.
My biggest accomplishment
My biggest accomplishment is my Boy Scout Eagle Scout service project. While progressing towards the rank of Eagle Scout, one the last steps is creating a service project to benefit the community. I decided to follow my passions of science, my previous career path as an Environmental Engineer, and running to renovate a parking lot for a running trail that was overgrown with invasive species along with resurface the parking lot with new gravel as the old one was unusable. Working with the Michigan DNR park ranger and trail manager, I was able to raise over $1000 dollars and 30 volunteers to transform the parking lot.
Future Plans
With now being almost halfway through my college career I still have a lot to learn. In the future I hope to get some sort of engineering experience before I graduate. While I am not completely sure what the future holds for me, I look forward to experiencing, further developing myself, and helping other achieve their goals.
