Introduction:
Hey all! I trust that you all had a great week like I did. This week was quite chill with wellness week happening allowing us to have less school year. Additionally, with some of the team traveling, we had very little practice as well. With that, I was able to get ahead on the assignments, relax, watch some TV, do some fun events, and of course catch up on sleeps. Let’s jump into everything I got up to this week!
Running:
Running this week was tough; the workouts this week weren’t too bad, but since I was coming off sick, the mucus coming out of me was a bit of a challenge. While running some mucus would come up which wasn’t an issue when doing an easy run. However, when doing workouts, the mucus would come up when I would shift paces causing me to dry heave whenever we took a short rest. This really sucked, making the workouts tough but on the reps I didn’t feel bad. Training for the last 4 weeks has been very inconsistent however even though I don’t feel great on a lot of the workouts since I am fighting trying to be healthy, I am working out pretty good still. Even with this though, my confidence is quite low because of not feeling strong on these workouts and just not trying my body. However, with these next couple of weeks of racing I will be able to show what type of shape I am in.
School:
School was light this week with wellness break on Thursday and Friday. I am an “exam” in my digital circuit design class however it was a take home exam and was basically a project that needed to be due this Monday. Other than that, I had two exam retakes as well this week which was nice since all I had to do was a little bit of studying and would not have homework in these classes over break since we did not learn anything during the week. Overall, school went by pretty fast this week, and I did good on both exam retakes which was a blessing.
Wellness Break:
Wellness break came super fast and it was really nice to just be able to relax and not have too much work to do. Since we also had not offical practice this week, most of us ran in the morning and did not have to wait around all day to run. After running most of my days consisted of working on my exam which honestly took a lot of work and was really challenging however, it was really rewarding to be able to finish the exam by designing everything by myself. While not working on the exam, I either read the book I had, did a little bit of chores at the house, or would be watching TV. I was able to watch some severance with Carson and also watch some March Madness games as well, which some of them were quite thrilling. Overall I am really glad that we had this short break since it was nice to decompress.
Volleyball:

Since the weather was going to be sunny and 50s on Thursday, and none of us were doing anything, we decided to do a team volleyball game like we did last semester. We invited the whole team to a decent number of guys, and a couple of the girls came. With this group, we played a 6 vs 7 game of volleyball, which is perfect size. What was fun about this game was that Emma, Alex, and Claire decided to put on a show and decided to pretend to be “guys” so they put on Baggy sweatpants, baseball caps, sunglasses, and put on a fake persona of “Drew”, “Brad”, and “Ner” and decided to act the best they could like men. It was quite funny, however slightly chaotic. Overall, it was a good two games and afterwards Carson, Jason, and Ethan and I played some SpikeBall. I was partnered with Carson and for not playing in nearly 6 months I was playing pretty well. I started to mess with Jason in hopes that he would mess up his serve just like how it happened on Beaver Island but was unsuccessful and after Ethan and Jason starting to lock in their serves, my weakest link being not able to return good passes from a serve to my partner, they took away with the dubs wining the series 2-1.
Deerfield:

On Friday night, Carson, Clay and I decided to do a little excursion and head to Deerfield Park to go camping. It was supposed to be pretty warm, so I was excited to be able to spend some time outside and enjoy a good campfire. We arrived at the park around 6:00 and then hiked the mile trip to the campsite. When we got there, I was on fire duty while Clay and Carson set up the tent. We got camp set up quickly, and the fire was roaring fast since Carson had some starters that made the job easy. Afterwards we made some dinner which was pita bread tin foil pizzas that Carson premade at home. They were super delicious and perfectly cooked in the fire with the cheese and sauce oozing out of the pita bread. After eating that delicious dinner, we sat and talked around the fire for a long time, occasionally stopping to find some more wood. Since we were far in the woods, there were no lights from the surrounding area and the forest was super dark. What made it even more eerie was there was a dense fog that made it difficult to see what was in front of us. Quite creepy to be honest but I didn’t think much about it at the time. After around 11:30 it started to get significantly colder, and we all were tired, so we hit the hay. The weather app had lied to us because what we thought was going to be a be a mid-50 degrees night turned into a low 40s-degree night, and I was freezing during the night. However, when we woke up, we quickly packed up camp and headed back to the cars, right when we were making our way to the car, it started to rain. Luckily, we had packed up right in time since it continued to rain throughout the whole journey back to the cars, but luckily since we were in the woods we were slightly shielded with the trees blocking some of the rain. Even with the slight weather inconveniences it was still a very good trip, and I was glad Carson came up with the idea.
Mafia:
On Saturday night Steve decided to host a Mafia night at the guy’s house. The turnout was pretty good with around 12 of us playing Mafia. Unfortunately, during all 4 rounds, I was not chosen as the mafia however I was chosen as the Doctor once and was successfully able to Save Emma N once from getting killed. It was really fun since some people did not know how to play and Aiden one round was killed as the doctor and thought that he could resave himself even after he was dead. Also, it was funny that people would turn on each other even though they had no idea who was or was not the Mafia. Overall, it was a really fun event, and Steve did a great job hosting it.
Conclusion:
With a lighter school load and more time to recharge, this week was the perfect balance of productivity and fun. Now, feeling refreshed, I’m ready to take on the next few weeks—whether that’s in racing, school, or the next spontaneous adventure!
Goals Update!
Journaling: I did no journaling this week.
Nail biting: I bit my right thumb nail and my right hand a lot this week but have not bit my left hand. It is progress
Reading: I finished the David and goliath book.
Phone usage: An average of 1 hour and 6 minutes. Stopping using snapchat as much and it really helped reduce my screen time
Future: I keep on procrastinating on the SAAC stuff that I need to do. I want to better reach out to the people I need to, so I don’t keep pushing it back causing an issue in the future.
