Week 12 College: A Week of Wins: From School to Sports and Relaxation

Introduction:

What up you all! I hope everyone has had a good week! I’ve had a pretty good and relaxing week. With the team traveling to regionals those of us not traveling were able to group up and get that work in. With the extra flexibility it was nice to be able to have more free time to be lazy. Let’s get into my week!

School:

Abby and I taking pictures on our watches since we got bored in class.

After a harder week last week with 2 exams, this week was quite light on school work since the homework in those classes were light. Additionally for my Micro-Processor class, our professor is super new and as a result always takes a long time to start class—sometimes even taking 30 minutes to actually start content—so with that dynamic, class goes by super fast. Although with that, I am quite worried about the next exam in that class since we haven’t learn much in the class since the exam, and the things that we have learned are hard. Although I may be stress, I am excited to finished the semester strong.

Running:

With this being regionals it was going to be an interesting since practice was on our on after Tuesday. That meant that I was only practice with the guys team on Monday. Even with that, running was really good. On Tuesday I had a workout by myself and it felt really strong and I was focused. Then on Wednesday since most of the team was traveling, both the guys and the girls team ran together for midweek, then on Friday we had a big workout for those that preparing for GV in December. That workout went really well for me and I was super happy with my effort in the workout. Overall its been a fabulous week for running!

Wrestling:

On Friday Wresting was having their first meet of the season at home. So Steve and I decided to come and support them. It was pretty cool since I hadn’t been to a wresting meet since last year. The craziest thing about wresting is that some of the guys are wrestling at weight classes that weight less than me and they are significantly bigger than me. It has to be one of the hardest sports for sure with the cutting combined with the physical strength and endurance needed. It was fun watching for sure but most of the matches Steve and I watched we did not win. We left after half of the wrestlers had gone. Although when I checked after the mee was over, we had almost beat Indiana and lost on the third tie-breaker. Overall it was good to get out and support other sports.

Basketball:

Since regionals was on Friday, and most of the guys were on their break, we all played basketball at the SAC. One of our team favorite pastimes, but unfortunately, we are not allowed to play during the season due to high injury risk. So, since it was the break for almost all runners, we played a variation of 4v4 basketball. The guys went pretty hard but it’s always fun to be able to watch them play. I also played as well but did not go hard and was walking and not playing defense at all. Even though I didn’t go hard, it was still fun!

Card Night:

Jessie and I play Sushi Go!

After making some dinner I decided to have a card night with Jessie. We play sushi go and Exploding kittens. It was my first time play Sushi go and it was a really fun game. Both games involved some strategy but also had a good luck component to them. That made the games fun and also some uncertainty to them. Since Jessie had not played Sushi go either the first couple rounds of the game was us figuring out what the best strategy was. After we figured it out it turned to be really fun. We played a couple games and I somehow was able to win all of them. After we finished playing Sushi go we switched to exploding kittens which was a game filled with randomness and a little bit of strategy. Since I already knew how to play the game, I had a little bit of a upper hand over Jessie but by the 3rd game she was able to beat me.

Conclusion:

On Saturday night a couple of us hung out at the guy’s house. It was awesome since I got to congratulate and talk to everyone about how the race went. Additionally, Clay’s little brother, Cole, and his roommate came to visit so it was fun to be able to catch up and learn how their college experiences were going. Carson, Abby, Jessie, and I were feeling pretty tired so after a while we decided to head back and watch Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, before going to bed.

Conclusion:

Overall, it was a week of good vibes, strong performances, and connecting with friends. While balancing school, running, and supporting other sports, I’m feeling more energized and ready to finish the semester strong. It’s a reminder that with a bit of downtime and some fun activities, you can tackle the busy times with more focus and energy. Here’s to keeping up the momentum and making the most of every week ahead!
