Week 16 College: Wrapping Up the Fall Semester: Exams, New Traditions, and Good Times

“Sometimes the best way to recharge is to take a break and enjoy the little moments along the way.” — Unknown

Introduction:

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great last two weeks. This was the last week of the fall semester and was exam week. This past semester has flown by but I am excited to go home. Jump into this weekly update on what I did on the last week of the fall semester!

Exams:

Jessie and I studying together for our exam on Wednesday

This week I only had three exams which was nice since I had taken two exams last week and I was able to study less and have less stress during exam week. I was doing very well in the rest of the classes that I had exams. Combined with the fact that I was pretty burned out, I did minimal studying for the classes. I tend to front load and had spend a decent amount of time making sure I had understood the content in the classes beforehand in previous weeks so when during this week I felt very confident that I could take the exams and do very well without even studying. So I brushed up on the topics that I was not so confident in and in total spent around an hour or 2 for exam studying. I find that this strategy work almost all of the time since it balances my mental health along with getting just enough in to do what I need to do. So with that I took two exams and Tuesday and one on Wednesday and it was really nice to be able to be done and just chill in mount pleasant. With that extra free time I was able to spend some time just chilling and rest but also get to spend some time with Jessie before we both headed out for break.

Running?

Normally during exam week I usually like to run just to keep myself busy since my schedule is signicantly more open than during a normal week during the school year. However after my race on Friday while I was cooling down I rolled my ankled badly. So I took the weekend off and decided to try to run on Monday. Unfortunately my ankled flared up during the run and made it pretty uncomfortable to run so I decided that I would just take the rest of the week off as technically it was my break and try to run the following Monday. Honestly not being able to run was a little bit boring but it gave me time to heal my ankle without the stress of worrying about having to run on it.

Popeyes:

The three of us roomies Steven (left), Carson (right) having Popeyes!

After Steven’s last exam on Thursday, us roommates headed toward Popeyes to get some dinner. Steven had started this tradition last year when he lived with Hunter so Carson and I decided to join him. I had not had popeyes since last year so I was excited to get some fried chicken. Luckily Carson remembered that we had some coupons from them so we brought those with us. Luckily we did since the coupon turned a 25 dollar meal into a 10 dollar meal. IT some 6 pieces of friend chicken, mash potatoes, fries, and two biscuits! It was delious and I was stuff after only eating half of it. This was nice since I barely had any food at the aparetment and allowed me to have a late snack if I got hungry. Overall it was nice to have one final dinner with the roomies and I look forward to doing this again next semester!

One last hangout!

On Thursday night the whole guys team decided to do one last get together before we all headed home for the semester and to celebrate joeys birthday since we could not do it three weeks ago since he was sick. We all were at the guys house and watched some football and played some games before we all headed to dog central to get some hot dogs! I decided to get the goober dog which contains chili, pickles, hotdogs, and Fritos. Yes it does sound disgusting but Carson and Clay both swear by it and call it the best dog, so I had to give it a try. After taking my first bit I had to disagree with them. The pickles combined with peanut butter added a strange taste and the peanut butter also added a consistency that I did not enjoy. Plus the chili and Fritos added too much. I imagine it is an acquired taste. Finally to end the night Colin played Bohemian Rhapsody on the piano and got everyone fired up before I headed home.

Conclusion:

As the fall semester ends, it’s been a week of mixed emotions and experiences—exams, unexpected injuries, and plenty of fun moments with friends. Despite the challenges, I managed to find balance by trusting my prep work and taking time to relax. The end of the semester brings a well-deserved break and an opportunity to recharge before the next chapter. Whether it’s sharing Popeyes with roommates or testing out new food combinations, these little traditions and hangouts have made this semester one to remember. Here’s to a restful break and getting ready to tackle next semester even stronger!
