Introduction:
Hey all. I hope all have had a great last 2 weeks. Unfortunately, due to Sushi night, which you will learn about later, along with getting sick all of week 6, I have not been able to keep up with my blog. However, his is a late update of what has happened in week 5. After having a tough week 4, I was looking forward to attacking the week and having a better one. After getting through the normal weekdays, I was able to enjoy a packed weekend filled with hangout out with friends and family. Let’s explore!
Normal Week Chilling:
With no meet on Friday this week, it allowed me to catch up on my school work and have a pretty chill week. Additionally, I only had one exam this week as well which was really helpful. With an normal schedule I was able to get back on track with my work and have plenty of time to front load my week so when my parents came over the weekend, I would not need to much homework over the week. With a normal schedule, and not much stress the week went by fast and soon enough it was the weekend
Friday Date:
Friday turned out to be the coldest day of the week. We had an early morning practice, but afterward, we were free for the rest of the day. In the late afternoon, Jessie and I decided to play some Putt Putt golf. Thankfully, this time Jessie was focused and not distracted by “the birds.” We played 18 holes and, while we didn’t keep score, we took turns winning and losing each hole. After our game, we grabbed some ice cream and chatted while savoring it, enjoying the lovely weather. After talking for a while, we headed back, had dinner, and studied together before I returned home to rest up for the busy Saturday ahead.
First Half Family Weekend:
Time for a busy and exciting day! We woke early and headed to Shepherd to do our quality long run. Ran 14 miles today and was quite tired through it but had some good chats with Miciah, Floros, and Clay. Afterwards I headed home and quickly had some breakfast before the family and friends showed up. In total, both my mom and dad came along with my sister and her boyfriend, and our family friend Kaisen came as well. I got my hair cut from my trusty barber—my dad—and so did Kaisen. After this we ate some lunch before we headed out to Papa’s pumpkin patch. They had a little art market, and I got a cool little bookmark. Afterwards, he headed home for some delicious pumpkin donuts. I had never had pumpkin flavored cinnamon and sugar donuts, but they were so good. Once we finished those tasty treats, Dad, Xuan, Kaisen and I play some cornhole, and I was automatic. It was quite a close game but eventually Kaisen and I were able to get the dub even though we got reset to 15 once. After Papa’s pumpkin patch we headed back to the apartment to get ready for the game.
Football Game:
We were able to get to the game right when it started at 3:30. The stadium was packed out. We were versing San Diego State. We were down most of the time there, but it was still fun to watch since big plays happened. Also, the people behind us were making a big ruckus and being silly. We decided to stay until halftime and afterwards we showed Kaisen around CMU. He was absolutely obsessed with “communicating” with the squirrels and trying to get them close to him. He learned that at MSU if you clicked your tongue and did a wavey motion with your arm they would come close to you. They must have some weird squirrels at MSU because while our squirrels at CMU are friendly, they are not into that type of witchcraft that Kaisen was doing. After walking around campus, we were pretty hungry, so we headed to Apple Bees.
Dinner:
When we got to Applebee’s it was super busy. On top of the busy parents’ week, it was also homecoming for Mount Pleasant High School, so we had to wait 45 minutes to get seated. However, it was worth it. Unfortunately, Applebee’s was not running its “all you can eat” however they were having 50 cent wings. So, I shared ten boneless wings with Kaisen along with getting a burger. The food was surprisingly good, at least by Applebee’s standards. After we finished the meal, I was stuffed and felt like I needed to walk off everything I ate. When we got home, unfortunately my parents and everyone had to get home so we said goodbye and I wished them safe travels and fun for their trip to Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia, a trip that my brother and I would be missing out do to school ☹. Overall, I was Overall, I was happy that I was able to spend a quality day with my family were able to come up since although I spent the first 18 years of my life with them, I rarely get to spend time with them now, so I cherish the times that we do get together.
Sushi Night:
The last and biggest event that I was looking forward to this week was Sushi night. I was hosting a sushi night with all was friends would be able to make their own sushi. It did take a little bit of prep to get ready, but everyone started to trickle in at around 7:30. It was a tremendous success since around 15 people showed up and other than rice, everything else was finished off. I love being able to bring people together and will be doing more events like this in the future.
Conclusion:
This last week was one full of getting back on track and spending valuable time with friends and family. I look forward to seeing you all (in a short and quite opposite weekly update) next week.
